The main results obtained in this study are as follows. LCIA values for PET bottles have increased to 3.74 times in 15 years from 1990 to 2004. This increase mostly comes from increase in bottle production amounts (5 times in 15 years), but a rise in recovery by recycling has contributed to reduction in large increase in LCIA. PET bottles are shown to occupy 0.082% of environmental assessments due to total human activities in Japan.
